The Blue Notebook is a heartbreakingly honest story. Levine doesn't spare the reader any details through Batuk's journal writings. Though poignant, readers should be aware that her story is at times disturbing and graphic. I would not recommend this novel for younger readers. Beautifully told, Batuk's story represents the multitude of young girls like her across the world. Prepare to be moved and have your heart broken for injustice. Well done, Levine.
