Terrible things are happening all over the U.S. There are seemingly senseless killings, kidnappings, and mysterious deaths. How are they all connected? In this thriller cum horror novel, Michael Marshall seems to be preying on our greatest fears in a run-of-the-mill plot. But then it gets to you. It happens as our hero Ward gets ready to sell his parent''s house after their strange car accident. He finds a note purposefully placed in a book hidden in the stuffing of his father''s favorite chair in his father''s handwriting that reads: Ward, we''re not dead. And then there are the videotapes that reveal another time, another place that is somehow connected to the madness going on in the outside world and to his family. And who are the Straw Men, anyway?
