There may be some "Christians" who would criticize this book. I personally thank her for doing the church of Jesus a favor - by encouraging them to look in the mirror. This book helped me to examine my own "little" (actually huge) hypocrisies. It was the start of a cleansing experience for me. I believe Jesus was grieved over the sad Scheeres family just as he was grieved over the Pharisaical behaviors of his day. I believe that redemption through Jesus and the true love from the Holy Spirit of Jesus is still possible. I once heard someone say that "living the Christian life in our 'own' strength is not 'difficult'. It is impossible!" Julia's parents were trying to do God's work without the power and Spirit that only God can give.
