When I began to read this book I fully expected to love it for I hold L. Lowery in high regard. However, the narrator's poor grammar that dominated the speech her speech (which composes all of the book) irritated my brain so much that I didn't want to give the book more than 3 stars. I kept reading and by the middle of the book I could focus in on the story that I knew 2nd through 8th graders would be glued to, and by the end of the story, the depth of the story's situations and development of the characters made me confident in my decision to give this book 5 stars.
