Veep The Complete Sixth Season DVD - 2017

Season 6 of the “Veep” franchise rolls on with its bitingly fiendish, no-holds-barred brand of political satire. Julia Louis-Dreyfus once again commands the screen with her unmatched charisma and talent. And her supporting cast continues to be second to none. Season 6 has Selina Meyer and her gang dealing with being out of power, which is quite an adjustment for everyone. Being on the outside looking in, after being on the inside, is not easy. At this point, I feel I would be remiss if I didn’t offer up some mild criticism about the use of profanity. Now, I’m certainly not against using profanity. I often use a variety of salty (insert your favorite expletive here) curse words. I just had the feeling that once in a while, in lieu of actual comedic writing, the writers would simply have the character say something really profane. That’s kind of taking the easy way to comedy, and while I still like “Veep” very much, and I am not opposed to a cheap laugh here and there, I believe this show has been too good for too long to rely on cheap laughs. But, on the other hand . . . I don’t know . . . I suppose an occasional cheap laugh is better than no laugh, especially for a comedy show. Anyway, that minor criticism aside, “Veep” continues to be one of the best shows on TV, and I am looking forward to Season 7.
