I liked the idea of the book. I liked the journey these two go on, but that did not make enough for me to love this book. This is a book that needed the story line reworked. The beginning was too overworked. We have to understand how these two people got where they were but it was too depressing and too much. Once they were on the road I liked the story better although I quickly lost any fondness for the Bea character. Her actions and motivation did not make sense. At one point she seems witless at another point she is a thief and con artist and at another just a mean old woman that wants to be left alone. Once they finish their journey the book goes on for another section about Allie and that lost me. I didn't want to go through that story. Journey over, tie up loss ends, end novel. The final chapter did not make any logical sense and was completely unbelievable. It was like the author was under pressure to finish and just threw in an ending because she couldn't come up with anything else.
