Long Walk to Freedom

It is a good example of portraying someone that evolves from many years of working within the law, then resorting to violence to make a point, to realizing that peace was the only way to heal the country's racial wars, over more violence, and vengeance. The film follows Nelson Mandela from around 1943, while working as a lawyer in Johannesburg, just before joining the African National Congress (ANC) party, through his 27 years in prison, release in 1990, up until his presidency in 1994. Mandela brought in a coalition government which emphasised reconciliation and created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past abuses. Nelson Mandela 1918 - 2013; President of South Africa May 10 1994 - June 14, 1999.
