If you're seriously looking for a really intense depiction of the turbulent era (from 1958-1980) in the life of pop singer, Tina Turner, then, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" should certainly satisfy your insatiable curiosity for a good part of this film's 2-hour running time.

I mean, here's a super-slick bio-pic that sure lays it on extra-thick when it comes to all of the highs (as well as the lows) that have punctuated both Turner's personal and professional life throughout these many years.

A lot of history told; and you generally have about 2 hours tell a story in film. Evenso, maybe, the blessing or the curse, is that, this piece, asks as many questions as it answers.

I saw the movie, but there were a couple of scenes in the movie that really did not happen to Tina Turner in real life the couple of those things were fabricated and put into the movie to this day I can't watch it because it was too scary! I get this horrible knotted feeling in my stomach whenever I'm about to see something bad happen. When this aired on TV I was thinking press mute, change the channel, go to another scene, do something! If it weren't for Tina Turner's best friend Jackie who taught her that Buddhism chant, she might not have been able to escape the abuse and most of all from her husband.

Hello, darlings - I just love-love-love Tina-honey. In her heyday, she was such a gutsy gal.

Don't you ever believe the saying that "opposites always attract".... 'Cause in this story it couldn't be the farthest thing from the truth.

I think this movie is very groovy. It made me happy. It made me sad. It made me sing. And, it made me cry.

Ta-ta for now, darlings. Hugs & kisses 2 U all.

Yes. Even though this 1993 bio-picture was a somewhat exaggerated retelling of 22 years (1958-1980) in the turbulent life of famed pop singer, Tina Turner - It was still, without question, certainly well-worth a view.

Packed with plenty of brutally-fierce drama, and high-energy musical numbers - Both actress, Angela Bassett, and actor, Laurence Fishburne gave convincing, top-notch performances as a pair of dynamic performers and ill-fated lovers whose repeated head-on collisions with each other could only lead to one final conclusion.

All-in-all - I recommend this picture, highly.

*Trivia notes*

Angela Bassett's singing was all dubbed by Tina Turner.

Director, Brian Gibson died in 2004.

This movie is like the epitome of such a great time in the creative and well researched overall message that a movie is trying to give to its audience in regards to telling a story of a leg and life.. and WOW can we just talk about from the beginning of the play button to the end, each character and each scene they were in they truly embodied the essence of the real life, such as Selena(with Jennifer Lopez) both with this movie the amazing revelation was the each lead were not the first or even considered for the roles, and they fought for and became them, they danced, they sang, there were no short CUTS, in today's adaptation the main focus is on relevance and quantity verses something like this.

Thanks for reading, i encourage more of you to be more detailed.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT is a powerful film, a riveting account of Tina Turner's life, from her abandonment by her mother, to their complicated reunion in young adulthood, to her marriage and success as a musical duo with husband Ike Turner, to the turn of events that leads Anna Mae (ahem, Tina) to escape from her oppressive and abusive environment and bravely fight for herself. It's raw and brutal, but equally inspiring and beautiful, as the larger-than-life music legend gets back up and, through sheer determination, becomes the icon we know today. I really enjoyed this film and highly recommend it.

This is one of the better music biopics I've seen, and I've seen many. The movie is rated R for domestic violence, strong language, drug use and some sexuality.

A beautiful, brutal, truthful movie about getting back your power.
