Not much here except a dismal story about horrible people.

Gyllenhaal’s performance as the creepy, sociopathic videographer of blood and violence in LA makes this otherwise average movie quite riveting. He’s intelligent, learns quickly, and games the TV news system to his advantage. Like those who tune in to view accidents and mayhem, watch with horrified fascination; you can’t look away.

This movie is about a hungry journalist, Jake Gyllenhaal, who feeds on footage taken place at night. He then purses a career as cameraman, armed with a camcorder and police scanner. He then scavenges the night hours in hopes to catch footage of grisly crimes. He catches the eye of a news director, who welcomes him to raise her channels reviews. He then begins to go on great lengths to catch the best shots. I enjoyed this movie, I thought it was very dark and very scary all at the same time. Overall would recommend it, If you already dislike Jake Gyllenhaal then don’t bother because it doesn’t get better. 4/5 Stars @Effystonem at the Hamilton Public Library of the Teen Review Board.

Nightcrawler is a movie about a reporter Lou Bloom played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Jake really does a great job at playing a hungry journalist trying to make his mark. He starts to go over the top filming horrible scenes like car wrecks and murders before the police even arrive. He starts to become uncaring and hungry for the money and fame. He gets creeper and creeper as the movie progresses and really looks the part as he looks almost like a vampire with dark eyes a overly thin body and pale skin. Nightcrawler is a great thriller. I liked it as it was something different than the typical thriller. Worth watching. 4/5 Stars. @McRee of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

I enjoyed the heck out of this movie. I've never really scene Jake Gyllenhaal in anything this dark before and it lead me to the inevitable conclusion that he's in the modern day master class of acting. The story is a slow burn of suspense that may be too slow moving for some, but I found it to be dangerously intriguing, something that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. I can't believe I sat through it waiting for it to implode. If you're a diehard Jake Gyllenhaal fan, well, he does a masterful job playing a manipulative pathological looney you hate immediately. Perhaps the role was merely practice. Pass on this drivel.

Pretty good movie!

Thought provoking film. Disturbing but engrossing. Jake Gyllenhaal's character may be a creepy sociopath, but as is suggested in the "bonus feature", in some ways he represents many of his age who are caught between their online lives and the world of precarious work.

An egocentric, morally-repugnant main character with absolutely no empathy for other people. And it gets worse from there. Agh, need brain bleach now.

Better than I expected; way better than most crap coming out of Hollywood. Surprised me more than usual, so I won't give anything away.

From IMDb:
Detective: You filmed him dying.
Lou: That's my job, that's what I do, I'd like to think if you're seeing me you're having the worst day of your life.
Lou: My motto is if you want to win the lottery you've got to make money to get a ticket.
Nina: Friends don't pressure friends to sleep with them.
Lou: Actually that's not true because as you know Nina, a friend is a gift you give yourself.
Rick: You gotta call the cops.
Lou Bloom: And we will. At the right time.
Lou: You see, Rick, they've done studies, and they found that in any system that relies on cooperation, from a school of fish or say even a professional hockey team for example, these experts have identified communication as the number one single key to success.
