The first book of the triumphant and epic four-part conclusion to the Shannara series, from one of the all-time masters of fantasy. Across the Four Lands, peace has reigned for generations. But now, in the far north, an unknown enemy is massing. More troubling than the carnage is the strange and wondrous power wielded by the attackers--a breed of magic unfamiliar even to the Druid order. Fearing the worst, the High.

A welcome return to Shannara and a great cast of familiar but different characters. The last few series of books have been okay reads but not like the first few in the series. With the end of the series and perhaps the Four Lands as we know them on the horizon, Mr. Brooks has crafted a throwback to the original books in the series with good plot lines, characters with flaws and not always so likeable and villains that seem unknowable. If you are a fan of the series you will not be disappointed. It is a quick read, but that is because it is a page turner and you want to keep reading. Drisker Arc, Dar Leah and Tashia are a compelling trio to build upon. Will definitely wait for Book #2
