Add a QuoteBilbo: Uh... no, no, not... not that one, he... he's infected!
William Troll: You what?
Bilbo Baggins: Yes, he's got worms in his... tubes.
Tom Troll: Ooh! [Tom throws down Bombur in disgust]
Bilbo Baggins: In-in fact, they all have. They're infested with parasites, it's a terrible business, I wouldn't risk it, I really wouldn't.
Oin: Parasites? Did he say parasites?
Kili: Yeah, we don't have parasites. You have parasites!
[Thorin kicks Kili, and the dwarves realize what Bilbo is doing]
Oin: I've got parasites as big as my arm!
Kili: Mine are the biggest parasites, I've got huge parasites!
Fili: "Fili." Kili: "And Kili" Fili and Kili: "At your service." Kili: "You must be Mr. Boggins." Bilbo: "No. You've got the wrong house."
Thorin Oakenshield: "Where did you go, if I may ask?" Gandalf: "To look ahead." Thorin Oakenshield: "And what brought you back?" Gandalf: "Looking behind."
Gollum (crawling away from Bilbo, who's pointing Sting at him): "It's got an elfish blade, but it's not an elfs... Not an elfs, no... What is it, precious?!? WHAT IS IT?!?" Bilbo Baggins: "My name... is Bilbo Baggins." Gollum: "...Bagginses? ...What is a 'Bagginses', precious?"
Great Goblin (singing): "Bones will be shattered, necks will be wrung! You'll be beaten and battered, from racks you'll be hung! You will die down here, and never be found... down in the deep of Goblin Town!"
Gandalf (gazing upon the horizon): "Erebor... The Lonely Mountain... the last of the great dwarf kingdoms of Middle Earth..." Thorin Oakenshield: "...Our home..." Balin: "A raven! The birds are returning to the mountain!" Gandalf: "That, my dear boy, is a thrush!" Thorin Oakenshield: "Well, we'll take it as a sign. A good omen." Bilbo Baggins: "You're right. I do believe the worst is behind us." (Camera follows the thrush to The Lonely Mountain, where it noisily pecks at a nut... stirring... Smaug...)
Gandalf (to Trolls):"The Dawn take you all!" Trolls:"Who's that?" "No idea." "Can we eat him too?" (Gandalf strikes rock and the light of dawn turns them to stone)

Add a CommentIf you are expecting this trilogy be in line with Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings, you will be disappointed. The Hobbit doesn't feel like it takes place within the same world as LOTR, heavily relying on CG and other special affects. Peter Jackson seemingly tried to appeal to a younger audience with the humor and bloodless fight scenes. However, the beautiful scenery and beloved characters remain.
The book is better! The movie added unnecessary things:(, and took out important parts. I recommend reading the book first.
Alas, this movie is an obscenity.
Peter Jackson, having crafted magnificent videos
of each book of the LOTR trilogy,
true to both the spirit and words of Tolkien’s monumental text,
chose to treat this prequel as mere buffoonish cartoon,
much like Disney’s animated versions of classic fairy tales.
Such a sad waste of this superb cast,
and a despicable bait-and-switch cheat to the viewers.
Far better to listen to the audiobook version by Rob Inglis
(or the British edition, read by Stephen Fry).
Excellent film not as monumental as LOTR Trilogy but still good fun fantasy and advendture ~ 420
It's a good movie, but I'm glad I read the books first. The story line got a little messed up, like some stuff that happened in the book wasn't in the movie and vice versa. And how do you make 3 movies out of 1 book? Anyway, I still think that the book is better
Martin Freeman(the office, sherlock) plays the lead role.Great movie
Prefered this series to "The Lord Of The Rings". Cleared up a lot of questions TLOTR left innmy mind.
One of my favourite adventure movies of all time
I really enjoyed this movie. I like seating down to a good adventure story. If your like me, then give this movie a try.
I liked it. I'm sorry if you didn't, because I thought this one stayed quite true to the book, (which I have read multiple times.) At the very least, it stayed closer to the book than the next movie. :) The trolls were PERFECT, exactly how I had imagined them. I thought it was interesting the way they explored the Dwarves' hatred of the Elves and the reasons why. Gollum was creepy, but very believable. The weird, sort of twilight world that Bilbo entered when he put on the ring was a little distracting to me, but that is just my opinion. Also, I had never watched LOTR, so I wasn't comparing this to that. Overall, I may complain a bit about how they didn't stay true to the books in the Hobbit or LOTR, but, at the end of the day, I still love watching them and wouldn't change a thing. (Except Tauriel!) Okay, not TOO many things. :)
