Create your dream yarn! Discover the pleasures of designing and building custom-made yarn by spinning it yourself, choosing everything from colour to feel and gauge. Jillian Moreno leads you through every step of yarn construction, with detailed instructions and step-by-step photos showing you how to select the fibre you want (wool, cotton, silk, synthetic), establish a foundation, and spin a beautiful yarn with the structure, texture, and colour pattern that you want. Absolutely LOVED it! This book is not meant teach you how to spin, but it is meant to teach you how to spin much better. It was written for people who want to improve the quality of their spinning and achieve better control over the finished product. It gives excellent explanations on all aspects of spinning, from fiber preparations, spinning worsted or woolen, how your drafting choices affect your yarn, determining yarn weight and yardage, playing with your colors to get just what you want (who knew that my choice of spinning woolen or worsted affects the color of the final yarn, but it actually does!), how spinning S- or Z- twist will affect your final knitted projects, and all the way through to various finishing methods. There are numerous photos to demonstrate how every change in technique affects the end product. It also has some lovely knitting patterns, but for me the patterns were secondary to learning how to become a better spinner.

as a spinner of wool, I found this book extremely useful. And the only of its kind out there. Highly recommend.
