Not only is Doreen a new college student, she's an undefeated mutant badass! Somehow she's got to learn to balance the two without going nuts. Good for people who liked Pollyanna, but wished the titular heroine would have punched more people.

Nice try, Ryan North, but CS students don't have lives outside of class.

Let it be known that I don't really read comic books--I read manga much more regularly--so I'm not really the right audience for this. I found the artwork almost distractingly ugly, and the main character almost too peppy. It felt very Noelle Steveson, but I like Nimona as a story much more. But it's bright and colorful and funny and easy to read, especially for a novice comic book reader.

Admittedly, I am probably the wrong reader for this book, and it would appeal to someone else. Personally, the character is written in a way that I found grating early on, and that only deteriorated from there.

My 7 year-old grand-daughter wanted to dress-up as Squirrel Girl after reading it, a ringing endorsement. The character is light but empowering. She is able to talk out of many of her crises. The origin story is a little strange.

Fun for adults and kids alike. My son, who's seven, wasn't even half way through when he started bugging me about getting book 2. Since it was in the teen section, I read it first to make sure it was OK, and I didn't see anything that I wouldn't give to children. And I'm glad I read it - it was cute and funny.

A quirky heroine with her endearing sidekick(s).

Fantastic! My 8 year old and I read this together and loved it (all ages - not just for teens!)
