First, let me say I'm a Christian. Getting that out of the way, I'll be the first to say that, in the past, faith-based movies, to me, have always sucked. Not the ones about Jesus per se but the ones such as this, just your average movie. So, I have generally steered clear of faith-based movies because I always end up cringing at abysmal acting or directorial duds or cinematography crap. For whatever reason (money was probably a big factor), "our" movies never seemed to equate to Hollywood movies in terms of picture quality (I won't say acting becasue I've never been a big fan of what passes for acting in Hollywood as a rule).

Then "War Room" came out. I decided to watch it becasue I wanted to see if I could gain tips on making my prayer life better. However, I didn't hold out much hope for the movie itself. And I was wrong. "War Room" was a wonderful movie with good acting (the husband (can't remember his name) in it was so GOOD at crying!) and the perfect mix of laughter and tears. It was emotional because it was relatable but also not so religiously "out there" that the secular crowd would feel either uncomfortable or confused (except, of course, at the mugging scene, which was totally believable to me, but I could see how people, who don't know the power in the Name of Jesus, could be rolling some eyes).

It was through the trailers before "War Room" that I learned of this movie and decided, just from the trailer, that I'd give it a try. And I am SO glad I did. First, I love Sean Astin and Patricia Heaton, but the other "no-names" were good in their parts. It took a moment or two for me to adjust to the opening, not expecting the "techy" aspect of having her blog appear across the screen as she's writing it or seeing everyone's texts popping up next to his face as each is texting the other. But, once I realized what was going on, I was able to get into the story.

Which was GOOD! I can't begin to say when the last time was that I watched a movie that had me laughing so hard, tears were streaming down my face! Literally! As with "War Room," there was laughter and then there were tears in "Moms' Night Out." This one, of course, had more laughter-induced tears, but there were emotional moments that had my eyes shedding some weepy ones, too.

All in all, this is a good story fraught with humor. Be prepared to laugh and cry—both with tears. So keep the Kleenex handy. You'll probably need it.

Kudos to all in movie and to all behind the scenes. This is a good movie—one anyone can enjoy. (Though I will admit I've never enjoyed dick-flick humor that tries to turn killing an animal into something humorous. So, no, I wasn't okay with the "Mama-was-squashed" bit. Still, aside from that, good movie.)

I always like to read the reviews if there are any when I rent a movie, and it really bums me out when someone has to make a comment about religion. We all respect and pray to god the same way(on our knees!), so why does someone have to make the remark that "I think your confusing christian with catholic or priest with minister". Isn't life hard enough? Make a bowl of popcorn sit back and laugh alittle!

Hillarious and family-friendly!!!

I thought it was a good movie.
Matthew 8:14 and 15 tells us that Peter
healed his mother in law. Which proves that
Peter was married. So there is nothing wrong with
a preacher having a wife. I think your mixing up Catholic
tradition and the Bible.

the only bad thing about it was that they think that a preacher can have a wife and kid is Ok, it is not! And it is priest, not a preacher. Besides that problem, it was a great movie. Thank you to all of the Married Moms(to a man) who have sacrificed for their young children!

Police officer: are these your parents?
girl: no sir.
Police officer: where is your daddy?
girl: he's in the hospital
girl: they're taking us somewhere we don't want to go
Police officer: really
girl: and they killed Mama!
police officer: they what!

(Note: this movie contains no violence, and mama is simply a bird) :)
it didn't go exactly this way but pretty close
