It just reminded me of the movie Deliverance, but a really bad version.

Love Meryl Streep? Watch this movie. She looks hot and as always makes her character full on believable. While the plot is based on a ridiculous premise the acting and directing manage to pull it off quite well. Great frothy tense entertainment!

Kevin Bacon, in a change of pace, plays a psychopath, nicknamed "Wild," in this white water action movie. It's maybe most interesting as part of the early 90s subgenre of the middle class/suburbanites in peril: "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" (same director as this),"Single White Female," "Pacific Heights," "Unlawful Entry," etc.

A little short story of fantasy of a middle aged housewife. That's what the plot seemed like. BTW, the movie was released 1994 when Streep was decades younger. ... but the actions of the actors in the rapids were still visually fake.

Meryl Streep is fantastic, Kevin Bacon makes for a believable bad guy and whoever trained the dog should get an award.

Gail, (Streep), a whitewater pro in her youth, and yuppie architect Tom's (Strathairn) marriage is on the rocks, (aside from the river), and Tom's work priorities are the reason, neglecting and alienating wife and son. Add some bumbling thieves - Kevin Bacon, (who's really good at playing the evil guy for some reason... I think it's his eyes), and John C. Reilly, (who's a natural for the meathead role), and some deadly whitewater and you've got the vacation from hell. Perfect cast selection. Other than "Sophie's Choice" and "Bridges of Madison County", Meryl Streep's never been more attractive as the brave, strong, glowing woman she portrays here. Great (although kinda cheezy) ending.

A great story involving family relationships with great water sequences and excitement. Great performances by all the actors.

Wade: "I'm in charge now. I could bury you and Roarke tonight. I could do anything I want with you." Gail: "Then go ahead. Don't keep telling me how tough you are, Wade, just show me."
