I finished this whole season and just started the second one, definitely worth a watch if you love fairy tales and the romantic drama they are filled with. It is definitely a soap opera-y tv show, but it's fun for a dark winter night. I usually can't finish a whole season of a tv show, but the flashbacks and the ways the stories tie into each other was really fascinating. However, for some people, these flashbacks may be confusing or hard to deal with, so before you get invested think about trying to hold two plotlines in your head. I imagine the show will get worse now that (spoiler?) the characters know who they are, but the first season was, overall, worth the time.

If you grew up on Disney movies like I did, you will appreciate the re-imagined characters and situations on this show. The first season is packed with new takes on traditional characters like Snow White, Rumplestiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, and Cinderella. These characters are neither as evil nor as good as we remember them - in fact, they are human. But True Love is still the most powerful magic there is, and family always finds each other. For fans of: Disney, fairy tale retellings and romance in general, and happy endings!

After seeing it on Netflix, I thought I'd watch the TV series "Once Upon a Time". While being cheesy with the magic, it was an interesting (and complex) series that combined an old-time fairytale world with a modern world in this constantly suspenseful and very action-packed fantasy/adventure series that I very much enjoyed and still continue to watch. The plot thickens with every fairytale world flashback, and each character has a backstory, which made this show even better. I find it a great alternative to other fantasy shows that battle several threats; this whole show is one giant tapestry unfolding and getting more twisted as the season progresses. I personally love the characters Belle, Mr. Gold, Regina and Graham. While the magic may be cheesy, it is much less than most shows and i recommend for all teens craving keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat entertainment. 4/5 stars @theapprenticebookworm of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

I didn't think I'd like this series, but thought I'd give it a shot. I'm really glad I did. It's captivating and surprising at times. It's quite an interesting idea with twist of fairy tales, into present day and back again. It's intriguing. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what to happen next. Can't wait to see season 2. I just hope it doesn't get dropped like do many good TV series do.

This is my favorite show. At first I thought it was going to be bad, to much messing with my favorite fairy tales. Now I know though, this show is very good. I've gotten multiple friends hooked on this show because it is amazing. The twists it puts on the fairy tales are so good that the show keeps you waiting and hooked until the next episode. Lana Parilla(Regina) and Jennifer Morrison(Emma swan) are very great actresses and are my favorite characters. If you haven't seen this show, you are truly missing out.

I heard about this show awhile ago from some friends and decided to take it in. I've fallen in love with it and the characters! I think the acting is great - the lady who plays Regina definitely earns her paycheque - and who would have thought that Ginnifer Goodwin would play both a funny and sincere rendition of the iconic Snow White? Filled with twists on familiar stories, most of which work, I'm looking forward to how far this series will go and where they'll take it.

Not sure how this is getting such high reviews. Glad to see viewer ratings are dropping a few million each season. This show gave me a migraine. Too much flashback, too many characters, bad CGI, and lover's turmoil. The whole "I love you but we can't be together" is the crux of the entire show and unless you're into Harlequin romance novels, it gets old really fast. Speaking of annoyances, Rumpelstiltskin is a very obnoxious character in a majority of scenes at the heart of nearly every evil deed. Overall, too soap opera-ish for me. I will check into the next season in hopes the show finds better footing but I'm doubtful.

I love this show. It is fun, full of adventure and heart. There is also a pinch of romance which never hurts. The females are badass and are waiting for oppurtuniy not princes which is just how it should be. Everything is well written and full of imagination. I can't wait for Season 4.

I love these retellings especially if you think you know everything about fairy tales. You'll fall in love with all of the characters (especially Rumplestiltskin, Regina, Ruby and Jefferson) and won't be able to wait for the next episode (or season.)
Beware: This season is better than the second because there are more backstories, but don't skip out on it, Captain Hook (who's gorgeous and hilarious) will be on the way and then he takes the group to Neverland in season three.

Such an amazing series--fairy tales being re-told. It's organized so well that everything fits and makes sense. Really interesting
